Tamagotchis were first introduced in 1996 and lots of new versions have been released since then. The latest version proudly celebrates Tamagotchi's 15th anniversary.
Tamagotchi have evolved to become more complex and impressive, from simple black and white LCDs to color, backlit screens and infrared communication abilities.
Tamagotchis have seen two different generations of users; the '90s kids who played with the pets the first time around (like myself), and the younger post-millenial generation who are just now discovering these pets for the first time.
